These terms govern your use of this website. Our provision of legal services is governed by the terms of our engagement with you and applicable law.

These terms govern your use of www.huntershafiz.com.au (Website), operated by Hunter Shafiz Lawyers (we, us or our). Please read them before using the Website. By using the Website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it.
These terms concern the Website. Our provision of legal services is governed by the terms of our engagement with you and applicable law. If these terms conflict with an agreed engagement term concerning legal services, that engagement term prevails, subject to applicable law.
The Website contains general information about our services and legal topics. Articles, guides, frequently asked questions and other resources do not constitute legal advice and do not take account of your circumstances.
Laws, procedures and government policies change. Although we take reasonable care in preparing our content, it may not be comprehensive or reflect the latest developments. Obtain advice tailored to your circumstances before acting, or deciding not to act, on Website information. Content about Australian law may not apply in other jurisdictions.
Browsing the Website, submitting an enquiry or sending documents does not, by itself, engage us to act for you. We must first determine whether we can assist, including considering conflicts of interest, and agree the scope of our work. We will ordinarily confirm our engagement in writing and provide costs disclosure where required.
A consultation is limited to the scope agreed for that consultation. It does not automatically include ongoing representation, further document review, correspondence, applications or court appearances.
An automated acknowledgement confirms receipt only. Enquiries are not continuously monitored. If your matter involves a hearing, limitation period, visa expiry or other deadline, contact us directly and obtain confirmation that we have accepted responsibility for the relevant work. Sending an enquiry does not extend a deadline.
Please provide accurate contact details and only information you are entitled to share. Before sending sensitive documents or detailed confidential information, contact us so we can consider whether we can act and arrange an appropriate method of delivery.
We will handle information received in accordance with applicable confidentiality and privacy obligations. Sending information does not, by itself, guarantee that it is protected by legal professional privilege. Nothing in these terms waives any confidentiality or privilege that applies by law.
Any consultation fee, service scope and applicable booking conditions will be communicated before you confirm a booking. General fee information on the Website is indicative unless expressly offered as a fixed fee for a defined service. We will identify applicable GST and additional costs before you commit.
Payment facilities linked from the Website may be operated by a third-party provider, including FeeWise. The provider’s applicable terms and privacy information will be available through its payment facility. Use only a payment method you are authorised to use and include the requested invoice or matter reference.
Any payment surcharge we impose will be disclosed before payment and applied only where permitted by law and applicable payment-network and provider rules. A provider’s processing fee is not automatically a fee payable by you.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact us promptly. Any cancellation charge must have been disclosed and agreed before booking and be lawful and reasonable. If we cannot provide a prepaid consultation, we will offer a suitable alternative or refund the amount paid for that consultation.
Refunds otherwise depend on the agreed service, work performed and your rights under applicable law. These terms do not impose a blanket no-refund policy or remove any right to a refund. Our engagement terms and applicable legal profession requirements govern legal costs and money held on your behalf.
Before transferring money, independently verify our bank details by calling a telephone number you know to be genuine, particularly if you receive a request to pay a new or changed account. Do not rely solely on contact details in the message requesting payment. Tell us immediately if you suspect a fraudulent payment request. This precaution does not alter either party’s legal responsibilities.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information, including information provided through the Website, and how to raise privacy enquiries. Please read it alongside these terms. These terms do not constitute consent to unrelated marketing or waive your privacy rights.
We or our licensors own the intellectual property rights in the Website and its content, unless otherwise stated. You may view, download and print material for personal use or internal business reference, retaining any copyright notices and attribution.
Except as permitted by law or with our prior written permission, you must not reproduce, adapt, republish, sell or commercially exploit Website content, or use our name or branding to imply an association or endorsement.
You must not use the Website unlawfully, transmit malicious code or unsolicited messages, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, or use automated tools in a way that compromises its security or availability. You may link to the Website if the link is accurate and does not falsely suggest our endorsement.
Links to external websites and services are provided for convenience. Unless expressly stated, a link does not indicate our endorsement. We do not control third-party content, availability or privacy practices. Review the relevant terms before using those services. This clause does not exclude responsibility that we have under applicable law.
We take reasonable steps to maintain the Website, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that it will always be free from errors or security threats. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, security or legal reasons, or restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, your unlawful use of the Website, or your reliance on general Website information as a substitute for advice tailored to your circumstances. This exclusion does not apply to the extent that our negligence, fraud, wilful misconduct or breach of law caused or contributed to the loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, remedy or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law. These terms do not limit our professional obligations or liability arising from legal services we provide.
Testimonials and examples describe individual experiences or matters. Each matter depends on its facts, evidence and applicable law. Past outcomes do not promise or guarantee a particular result in your matter.
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Website, our operations or legal requirements. Updated terms will be published here with a revised date and apply to Website use from publication. Changes do not retrospectively affect accrued rights, confirmed bookings or an existing engagement agreement. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention through an appropriate Website notice.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts and courts entitled to hear appeals from them, subject to any mandatory rights to bring a claim elsewhere.
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it is severed to that extent and the remaining provisions continue to operate. Nothing in these terms prevents you from making a complaint to a regulator, seeking a costs assessment or exercising another statutory right.
For questions about these terms, Website issues, payments or service concerns, contact Hunter Shafiz Lawyers at info@huntershafiz.com.au or on (02) 9682 5433.
